Free Books!

In less than a month, I’m moving to the great city of Indianapolis! Because I’m sort of in denial, I’ve been reading a lot! Just finished Struts and Frets, which I loved loved loved! And now I’m trying out a paranormal romance, which is a stretch for me. When I went to shelve Struts and Frets (Possibly the most clever YA title ever, btw) I noticed there was no room for it and I started thinking of packing all those books! And then I thought, hey! I’ll just give some of them away on my blog!

Some of them I’ve read and want to share with you. Some of them I’ve come to grips with the fact that I just won’t read. It happens. Some of them I had to teach when I was thinking of becoming a teacher. During those years I would write MUGELE across the top; so, many of the books have that scrawled across them. Otherwise, they’re in good shape.

So, here’s how it will work: Just leave a comment listing which one or ones you want. List them out in your comment. I’ll give them away by first come first serve. So, you may have to read the comments to see if someone else has claimed the book before you. I’ll cross them out as they are claimed, as well.  Then email me your address, so I can mail them to you. Please only U.S. residences; I’m cheap and won’t mail out of the U.S. Also, if you don’t mind, I’d really appreciate some linking and tweeting of this post, because I want share the YA author love! And my readership isn’t enormous. Thanks everybody and I hope you find some books you want! Contact me at jody(dot)mugele(at)gmail(dot)com.

  1. Jody- How awesome are you to share your wealth! So I went thru your list & compared to Bri’s wish list with the following matches: Must Love Black, Saffy’s Angel, Monster, Before I Fall, Witch Child. The two of you seem to have very similar book taste. If you can send any it would be greatly appreciated by my fellow bookloving daughter!

  2. This is weak, I know. But will you pick a couple you think I might like or might be a stretch for me and suggest? I trust your wisdom in YA!

    1. Okay, Jen. I’m up for the challenge. I’ll send you One Butt Cheek at a Time (YA chicklit, funny and sassy) and Tending To Grace (YA serious, sparse writing, stylistic) Hope you like them! OH, and email me your address.

      1. Thank you! Couldn’t get back to your blog yesterday because my dang internet was down. Just emailed you my addy. Excited to get readin’!

  3. “Fever 1793” sounds interesting! I’ve heard a lot of this author, but not read her yet.

You will still have plenty of books left for your built-in bookcases in your new home, right?

I’ll tweet this give-away for you!

    1. Hi Val. I’ll send it to you! I also found a book you gave me to read a while ago and will send that back as well. Laurie Halse Anderson is brilliant. I THINK this is her only historical fiction; she’s better known for her contemporary work.

  4. Great contest! I’d love to get AIRBORNE, CRANK, THE DUST OF 100 DOGS and MILKWEED. I’ll tweet like a madman…

  5. Oh, I can’t receive any since I’m no US resident, but I hope someone picks up The History of Love, it’s absolutely amazing!

  6. If I may: That Summer by Sarah Dessen
Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
and THe Second Summer of the Sisterhood?
Or am I only allowed one?

  7. Hi Jody,

I found you from twitter (Mitali RTed you) and I was wondering if following were still available:
Away Laughing on a Fast Camel by Louise Rennison
On the Bright Side, I’m Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God, by Louise Rennison
    Fairy Tale by Cyn Balog

(and reading Iris’s recommendation) The History of Love by Nicole Krauss

I feel like I’m monopolizing the books so let me know if I should cut back a bit 🙂

  8. Ooooh! Can I have Fallen Angels and also The True Meaning of Cleavage? And if they don’t have your name in them, will you sign them for me? You know, something inspiring like, “To Jennifer, the best YA novelist I know, from the other best YA novelist, Jody.” That oughta do it.
